Salty Dog 479-0859

salty-dog-1

This is my first glimpse into mid-90s Japanese craftsmanship and I am pretty impressed by the construction and attention to detail on these. The first thing I did was to compare the denim with that of Sugarcane 1947’s, and it is quite different because the dye used on these jeans is more of a green-cast dye.

This pair is 1947 501 cut, and has scovill rivets.

Edit: The name is weird and I was wondering how they came up with such a name. Well, here is the answer…
a ‘salty dog’ means ‘an experienced sailor’ (US Navy slang).
